Love: I have learned over the years is undefinable! As much as we can try to define love we can't actually give it a definite meaning or should I say we all would define love the way it has made us feel. But this is common for everyone; that when we think of love, we think of butterflies, we think of the first time we met someone that made our heart skip a beat, how we smile when we see or think of that person, we think of how the person walks, talks and even smile. But love isn't just these things, it's more than how we see it, it's not just about the physical attraction alone. When we look deeply at our relationships, we would discover that we fell in love at first; blinded by that fun and urge to see our lover then later things change. Love is more than moments when we go out on dates, it is equally more than times when we stroll around or exercise together or even wear matching outfits. But no doubt, all these make us wonder if we are in love with that person because they make our day lively or because of the way we feel for that person. I believe love is not just a feeling; “love is an action, an understanding, a choice, a moment of faith and trust where we decide for ourselves to be with and for that person no matter what." What we all get wrong is that love is not as easy as it sounds because somehow, we tend to believe love is easy, beautiful and amazing but we forget the fact that love is also not as easy as we imagine it to be, love sometimes is complex, complicated and has its own challenges; and that is why when the going gets tough we just want to quit, we don't want to be patient with love, we expect that in love everything should be cool, calm and fun-filled. You see, those little quarrels or misunderstanding that occurs in our relationship, it's only supposed to make us know each other better and not make us quit on each other. We are supposed to settle our differences and not quit… We are not supposed to quit on our partner no matter what because when we decided to love them we have taken it upon ourselves to be with them no matter what. Most times we tend to compare our relationship with others, we are not contented with what we have. We want what the other person has and when we don't get it we want to quit. In all we should all know that "the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. Your love would be tested because you see, there’s nothing like real love or fake love; it’s either it is love or it is not love at all. So it may start from admiration or having feelings for someone but love is as a purified gold; it doesn’t matter what comes along with the ore, once it is fired through the furnace of life and time, only love will emerge. In all there is one conclusion: “CONTENTMENT is the secret". Written by Imabong Maryam Danlami.
